Albany bishop to lead Parish Study Day

Bishop Howard HubbardBishop Howard Hubbard of the Diocese of Albany will be the keynote presenter for the annual Parish Study Day, Wednesday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora.

Attendees will learn how the Gospel continues to inspire people of faith to live a life of witness, the essential link between evangelization and social justice, and practical ways how the Catholic social mission attracts conscientious young adults to our Church.

Bishop Hubbard is chair of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' Committee on International Justice and Peace and formerly served as chair of the Bishops' committees for Marriage and Family Life, Human Values, and the Catholic Campaign for Human Development.

Breakout Sessions

There will be two breakout sessions during the day with the following choices offered in each round:

Immigration & Social Justice: The Truth About Comprehensive Immigration Reform with Michael Marszalkowski, Esq. special counsel with Damon Morey LLP.

Caring for Creation: A Catholic Response with Sister Sharon Goodremote, FSSJ, chair of Diocesan Care for Creation Committee and Catholic Charities Public Policy Coordinator.

Weaving the Seamless Garment with Denis Coakley, director of Pro-Life Activities and Donald Weigel, Continuing Education Instructor, Christ the King Seminary.

Poverty & Challenges Facing Western New York with Alison Duwe, executive director of the Coalition for Economic Justice.

Who should attend? 

Pastors, parochial vicars, pastoral associates, directors and coordinators of faith formation, social justice advocates, deacons, theology students, youth ministers, parish council members and volunteer leaders.
