The diocesan Office of Pro-Life Activities and Baker Victory Services are sponsoring a Mass for all those who have been touched by adoption -- birthparents, adoptees, adoptive parents, grandparents and other relatives.
The Mass will be held on Saturday, April 24, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Basilica, Ridge Road and South Park Avenue in Lackawanna.
Msgr. Paul J. E. Burkard, pastor at the basilica, will be the main celebrant and homilist. A reception will follow in Baker Hall.
During the service, birth mothers are invited to place a rose in a basket on the altar in memory of the child they surrendered. Adoptees are invited to place a flower to honor their birth mother while adoptive parents may place a rose on the altar in thanksgiving for the gift of life that was given to them through adoption.
