When they opened their doors to two young strangers in the winter of 1987, Father A. Joseph Bissonette and Msgr. David P. Herlihy could never have known that their lives were about to end. Last February, an Islam-Catholic program designed to educate people about good interfaith relations took place at St. Bernadette Parish in Orchard Park, but the event grew particularly heated when someone in the audience essentially called the Muslim speaker a liar.

Sister Mary Francelita Machnica, CSSF, and Sister Mary Edwardine Machnica, CSSF, are two of a kind. Between them, the two real-life siblings have more than 120 years of service as Felician Sisters.
