St. Francis High School in Athol Springs is returning to its roots as a boarding school by opening the third floor of Justin Hall to international students. The 12-room dormitory, open since September, currently houses 20 students, with room for six more. read more...

In Niagara Falls the 14 Stations of the Cross have become a pet project for some local teens. Two Boy Scouts earned their eagle badges with projects involving the depiction of Jesus Christ’s final hours.

Bishops vow to fight birth control ruling

In a move that angered religious leaders, the federal government’s Health and Human Services department, under the Obama administration, announced Friday that church-related institutions must provide free birth control coverage for women in their employee insurance plans by next year.

Last February, an Islam-Catholic program designed to educate people about good interfaith relations took place at St. Bernadette Parish in Orchard Park, but the event grew particularly heated when someone in the audience essentially called the Muslim speaker a liar.
