March 14, 2012 will begin the 15th season of “Our Daily Bread.” When I stop to reflect on such a feat, it’s hard to believe all we’ve done and how we’ve grown. It’s been 15 years of delicious foods, crazy kitchens – where stoves don’t work, and paint cans are used to heighten tables, and hilarious mishaps regularly ensue. It’s been 15 years of interesting, and at times, kooky fun guests, wonderfully loyal viewers, and countless appearances cooking on the local morning show “AM Buffalo” which airs on WKBW-TV Ch. 7.
Through these 15 years, a warmhearted relationship has been built with producers, directors, studio crew, station personnel and on-air talent at our host station on WKBW, Buffalo’s ABC affiliate. We recently invited Lea Dicesno, producer of “AM Buffalo” into Father Paul Seil’s kitchen to share a few of her family’s recipes. Dicesno remembers her 25 years in the television industry as she makes lasagna, complete with homemade meat sauce.
Trust me, this is no ordinary lasagna. Dicesno makes hers without ricotta cheese, instead adding marble sized meatballs, sliced hard boiled eggs, prosciutto and a massive amount of shredded mozzarella cheese.
“It was great having Lea on the show,” said Father Seil, host of “Our Daily Bread.” “I’m always in her kitchen on ‘AM Buffalo,’ so it was nice to cook with her in mine. I must tell you I never had lasagna made like this before. It was delicious. The only problem I had was making the meatballs small enough. Lea kept telling me, they need to be marble-sized, not rock-sized.”
This is a twosome in the kitchen that you are not going to want to miss, so circle Saturday, Nov. 12, on your calendars, then set your alarm clocks, DVRs and VCRs because this “Our Daily Bread” show airs at 5:30 a.m. only on WKBW-TV Ch. 7.
