The Buffalo Diocese and hundreds of thousands of Catholics and others in solidarity will make a pilgrimage of public witness, penance and prayer for all those victimized by the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion, and for the conversion of those who misguidedly perpetuate it.
Participants in the March for Life will gather in Washington, D.C., to pray and publicly intercede on behalf of the unborn, their parents, families, communities, nation and leaders, that this prayerful presence may open hearts, minds and souls to the fullness of the Gospel of Life in our lives and laws, healing the wounds of abortion.
Three busses will leave Buffalo the morning of Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, with pickup stops at various locations throughout the diocese. Round-trip fare is $145.
The day will begin with Mass at the Washington Plaza Hotel on Jan. 23 at 8 a.m. with Bishop Edward U. Kmiec celebrating. National Catholic speaker Christina King will speak after 9 a.m. breakfast.
King is an abstinence and chastity speaker from Neenah, Wis. She has been speaking to teens and their parents throughout the country since 1996.
She is the mother of seven children between the ages of 3 and 19. She has written articles for magazines and appeared on EWTN’s “Living His Life Abundantly” and “Catholic Answers Live.”
A noon rally at the Mall will be followed by a march along Constitution Avenue to the Capitol and Supreme Court building. A youth rally will be held at the DC Armory at 7:30 a.m. with confessions, rosary and Mass.
To make reservations call Washington Plaza Hotel at 202-842-1300 or 800-424-1140 and mention the Diocese of Buffalo Room Block #9174. The deadline for reservations is Dec. 22.
Anyone not able to make this trip is asked to consider making a donation so that others like clergy, religious, seminarians or youth groups will be able to participate.
