Celebrating Memorial Day at a Catholic Cemetery is truly a mixture of flags and wreaths and tributes and taps. Join us as we honor those who have served our country in the military at one of our Memorial Day Masses. On Saturday, May 23 at 10am, Masses will be held at the following cemeteries: Mount Olivet in Kenmore, Holy Cross in Lackawanna, Gate of Heaven in Lewiston, and Holy Sepulchre in Cheektowaga. On Monday, May 25 at 10am, Masses will be held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lockport and St. Adalbert Cemetery in Lancaster. Honoring all those buried in the cemetery is the focus of our Eucharistic celebrations and our voiced intercessions. Taking a little time from our lives to visit the cemetery and to remember the dead is what brings value and meaning to the gatherings with family and friends we may have over this holiday weekend. Inviting Youth to Leadership and Ministry. There is a great need to empower young people with a vision of church, a sense of ministry and an affirmation of their gifts. There is a need to equip young people with the skills and knowledge they need to be effective leaders in our revitalized church. Teenagers have tremendous gifts and energy to offer in service to our parishes, but in order to tap into those resources we must personally invite them, affirm them, and train them. The Christian Leadership Institute (CLI) presents you with an opportunity to do this. CLI prepares high school aged teens for active and meaningful leadership in their parish, school, and community. Please invite and sponsor teens with leadership potential to experience this faith-based institute. CLI will be held from June 26-July 2 at the St. Columban Center in Derby. Brochures and scholarships are available from the Department of Youth & Young Adult Ministry at 716-847-8789 or visit http://www.dobyouth.org.

Marriage Moment. Praying together as a couple can be a deep and perhaps awkward form of intimacy. It takes great trust to pour out your heart to God in the presence of your spouse. A first step may be praying for each other even if not in one another's presence. A second step may be silent meditation in each other's presence. Take a step this week.
Parenting Perspective. Parental words that sustain and heal: "It's normal." "I'm proud of you." "You did a good job." Look for an opportunity to say something like this today.
