Dec. 1 is Giving Tuesday, a worldwide effort designed to encourage people to donate charitably after several days of shopping and sales from Black Friday to Cyber Monday.
This year, the local Catholic Charities office is in the midst of a flash shoe drive, which will take place until Feb. 1. The goal is to collect 7,500 pairs of shoes through the end of the campaign, and on Giving Tuesday, you can help.
All shoes collected will be donated to third world countries via a company called Funds2orgs.com. For each pound of shoes collected, Catholic Charities will receive a monetary reward to be used towards funding current programs and services.
To donate shoes in person, drop off your soles at the Catholic Charities office at 741 Delaware Ave., Buffalo. If you would like to help collect or need more information, please contact Cassandra Carleton at 716-218-1400.
