Bishop Malone will continue the true celebration of the feast day of Saint Patrick with Mass at Saint Joseph's Cathedral on Sunday March 17th at 10:30 AM. This will precede the lining up of the Saint Patrick's Day Parade on Delaware Avenue.
Sheehan Residence Purchased

The Sheehan Residence, which had been on the market, closed Thursday, February 7, 2019. The property, owned by the Diocese of Buffalo, is located at 330 Linwood Avenue in Buffalo, New York. It was purchased by Mingo Junction Steel Works, LLC and the closing price was $1,300,000.
New Adult Sexual Abuse and Misconduct Task Force announced

The Diocese of Buffalo has established the Adult Sexual Abuse and Misconduct Task Force. The group will review and recommend policies and procedures for assessing and responding to allegations of sexual misconduct with adults by priests, deacons, religious and lay employees. The Task Force will ensure that the diocesan policies for adult abuse and misconduct complement the existing diocesan policy on child abuse. In addition, the Task Force will review the investigation framework of sexual abuse allegations to ensure compliance with federal and state law, canon law, and the Diocese of Buffalo Code of Conduct to ensure the protection of all of God's people.
William Pryor named chief administrative officer

Catholic Health has appointed William B. Pryor to the position of chief administrative officer. Pryor comes to Catholic Health from Cape Fear Valley Health System in Fayetteville, N.C., where he served as chief human resource officer for the past 10 years.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Mass scheduled for Jan. 20

Diocese releases new list of priests

On Nov. 5, 2018, the Diocese of Buffalo released another list of priests with substantiated claims of sexual abuse of a minor. This is in addition to the original list published in March 2018. Priests who received a single allegation after their death are not included. Death dates for diocesan priests are in parenthesis.

About 900 Catholic school educators in the Diocese of Buffalo will gather on Friday, Sept. 28, for an educators' convocation at Cardinal O'Hara High School, 39 O'Hara Road, Tonawanda. Dewane of Venice, Florida, chairman of the U.S. bishops' Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development, calls for all persons to work together for just wages, which are necessary for families to flourish. Catholic Charities of Buffalo has begun the process to phase out current foster care and adoption services under a contract with the Erie County Department of Social Services (DSS). The contract is set to expire in March 2019.

DiNardo of Galveston-Houston, President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), has issued the following statement in response to Pope Francis's Letter to the People of God, issued earlier today. In his letter addressed to the whole People of God, the Pope calls on the Church to join in acts of prayer and fasting in "combatting all forms of abuse of power, sexual abuse and the abuse of conscience."

I share in the sense of horror at the magnitude of damage wrought on victims by ministers of the church who, of all people, should be eminently trustworthy. It's a different church now in the way we respond to any claims of abuse."
Sisters of St. Francis sign sale agreement for Williamsville property

The Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities today announced that they have signed a purchase and sale agreement (PSA) for the property known as St. Mary of the Angels in Williamsville to The Tzetzo Companies LLC of Buffalo. In addition to owning the property, Tzetzo will operate the region house as a New York State-licensed senior assisted living facility. The purchase price was not disclosed and final closing on the sale is not expected until sometime in November.
